Annélisa and Karen started Homeschool Informational Services in 2012 to help families navigate their homeschool journey.
They conduct informational sessions at local libraries, hold workshops for parents as well as organize and facilitate homeschool classes.
They also offer private consultations, and curriculum implementation.
Annélisa holds a M.A in Dramaturgy and Literary Criticism from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor's degree in Theatre from UNLV. She worked at a professional theatre for seven years, taught on the college level and enjoys teaching after school enrichment and literacy classes for elementary school students. She's owned her own business for 19 years as an Independent Educational Services Representative for Usborne Books & More. Annélisa is a mother of three boys ages 23, 19 & 14 and homeschooled her oldest son who has dyslexia and auditory processing. He is a Homeschool High School graduate, completed a full-time mission in Canada and is looking forward to starting school at Penn State in the fall.
Her second son graduated from a private high school and recently returned from serving a full-time mission as well. He will join his brother in the fall at Penn State. Her third son is currently attending a private high school.
Annélisa specializes in homeschooling children with learning challenges, study and book resources and transitioning from a public and private setting to a
homeschool setting.
Karen holds a Masters in Education from Cambridge College and Bachelor's degree in Engineering and Economics from the University at Buffalo. She taught math for 10 years to junior high and high school students in Manhattan and Queens. She taught on the college level and also served as a GED Math instructor.
Karen is a mother of 4 children ages 27, 25, and 16 year old twins. Her older children began their homeschool journey when they were in 4th and 2nd grades. Her oldest child is a college graduate and holds as Master's Degree in Student Affairs and Higher Education. Her second child is a Homeschool High School graduate.
Her twins have always been homeschooled and will graduate in 2 years.
Karen specializes in Math, Unit studies, Homeschooling through High School
and creating volunteering opportunities.
Mayeesa holds a Master of Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from High Point University. She was homeschooled from 4th-12th grade and actively navigated the college admissions process as a homeschool student. She currently works in Higher Education specializing in Student Affairs. Her experience within Student Affairs includes campus programming, residential life, new student orientation, student conduct, multicultural affairs, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Additionally, she has worked with high school students to assist them in discovering and working towards career and college goals.
